Whether you are holding off waves of relentless AI hordes or fortifying your perimeter against human raiders, the goal remains the same: transform your immediate environment into a lethal obstacle course that maximizes enemy attrition while preserving your most critical assets. Success requires a deep understanding of pathing mechanics, structural integrity, resource loops, and the inevitable "point of failure" that every base design carries.

Understanding Pathing and AI Manipulation

In games featuring AI-driven enemies, the most critical element of base defense is the manipulation of pathing logic. AI units rarely possess true "intelligence" in the way human players do; instead, they operate on algorithms that seek the most efficient route from their spawn point to their target. By identifying these pathing rules—often based on the shortest route or the path of least resistance—players can create "kill corridors."

A kill corridor is a narrowed choke point lined with traps, turrets, or stationary defenses. "Soft" base defense involves camouflage and deception. Build your base into the terrain—use mountain overhangs, caves, or thick foliage to obscure the full footprint of your structure.
